• I have no experience in using a shipping container for storage.
How do I know what to ask for?
There are two main considerations to think about, what is being stored in the container and the volume of goods to be stored. In most applications a 20’ General Purpose (steel) container will be sufficent. With a 33 cubic meter capacity, an average 3 bedroom home can stored inside.
If you goods have special requirements – frozen, oversize, modifications any of our helpful staff can assist you in choosing the best container for the job.
• Should I purchase outright, hire short-term or lease long-term? What are the pros and cons of each option?
Depending on your situation all options are viable. Hiring has a far smaller outlay and you have the advantage of receiving one of our near new or fully refurbished hire containers complete with lock box. Long term hire rates are available on request. We also have containers available to fit all budgets if you would like to purchase one.
• How soon can you deliver a container (standard, modified, customized)?
Stocked containers to local addresses can usually be delivered within 24 hours of reciept of payment and/or paperwork required. Small modifications/customisations like a lock boxes or repainting normally within 24-48 hours. Larger modifications/customizations are dependent on the exentent of the job. Where possible we will work with you to ensure your container reaches you within your deadline, available date will be indicated on confirmation of order. For containers are are being delivered out of town we will get your container on the next available truck heading you way.
• If I buy a container, will you buy it back when I no longer need it?
Yes we will buy your container back off you, prices are subject to condition of the container when you wish to sell it and what we are currently paying for containers. Where possible one of our staff will come and inspect the container, otherwise we require current photos of the unit prior to making an offer.
• Do you offer a warranty on containers, or a back-up service?
If you are not 100% happy with you container when it arrives we will replace it at our cost. Three Phase Reefer machinery comes with a 90 day warranty on parts and labour, Single Phase machinery comes with a 12 month guarantee on parts and labour. Our reefer containers are also backed up with a 24 hour help line.
Like any item containers benefit from maintenance over time, we will also soon be able to provide a mobile repair service in some areas, regardless if you have purchase from us or anyone else.
• How do I go about returning a hired/leased container once the term is up?
It is as simple as a phone call – please have the container number ready when you call. If you are arranging your own transport you will be given an Acceptance number to drop off the container. If you would like us to arrange the pick up we will ask for confirmation of the containers location, when the container will be available for the truck to pick up and if anyone is required to be on-site for the pick up.
• Do I need local body permission/approval to site one or more containers on my property? Can you advise?
Regulations are governed by local councils, we recommend contacting your local office to confirm if you are required to observe any bylaws.
• I need to protect sensitive contents against extreme climatic conditions (high humidity, heat, cold, etc.). Can you custom-insulate a container for that purpose?
We can provide a number of products and suggestions to ensure your contents are protected within the container including container dessicants, whirly gigs, vents, container liners, packaging products and advice. We are also able to fit insulation panels to the container.
